ROSENBLUM HALL TDM
(‘S TEST DRIVE MEME)

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme for Rosenblum Hall, the first of (hopefully) many rounds of Murdergames… With A Twist! More information on the game can be found here, and more info on the setting can be found here! This is a space for trying out characters and seeing ways you can incorporate them into the setting and into CR with other players! Please do note, as a reminder, that you must be part of Lyndon (
When leaving a toplevel, please try not to leave it at just starters! Instead, give people interested in responding whatever details you’re figured out or want to try out for your character that other students might know or want to engage with! Remember, ooc communication is the key to making this go smoothly, so make sure that you are in communication with other players as needed! But feel free to also use this as an avenue to try things out before you finalize your AU for the game itself!
Now, let’s talk prompts. While the map of Rosenblum Hall itself won’t exist for a little while yet, you can anticipate things like a greenhouse or a library - the rooms are going to start out simple. If it might be in a fancy old mansion house, it might just be in Rosenblum Hall!
1 - Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.
Welcome to your winter break! Sorry for the last-minute notice, but due to emergency weather damage to the usual hall for the break, you’ve all had to pack quick bags of personal items and head to Rosenblum Hall for the next couple weeks while this sudden storm of the century comes in! At least it’s supposed to quiet down in a day or two?
You have some time to get settled into your room now, at least, even if the halls are way creepier here than in the main dorms, all wood panels and antique carpets and whatever. The rooms themselves are actually pretty nice, with big canopy beds and old timey writing desks and… a portrait of the school’s founders watching over you while you sleep. Hm. That’s a problem for nighttime.
If you’re looking for warmth during the storm, though, that’s going to be the halls and the common area with its fireplace. So instead of hanging in your room, maybe go see who else was unlucky enough to get caught in this freak storm situation. After all, the new guidance counselor who’s supposed to watch over you guys is still apparently getting the move reported and settled, so until she arrives and you actually meet her, you’re all unsupervised!
2 - It must have been my weakness that made me hesitate.
So you’ve gotten settled, and then almost certainly immediately unsettled by the whole uh. Murder thing. And the fact that the same day is looping, which means the storm outside is unlikely to let up. But no one’s actually taking this murder thing seriously, so it’s probably fine? Yeah. Probably fine.
Anyway, now is the time for getting up to teenage shenanigans, or at least trying as best you can given the situation and the location. Good luck! And remember, going outside may not be forbidden, but for your own safety it’s best to stay inside, the storm gets wilder and stronger the further you stray from the Hall.
3 - I doubt. I fear. I think strange things, which I dare not confess to my own soul.
Hm. So the mysterious voice from the loudspeaker’s given you a motive. That’s not ideal in terms of interpersonal tension! How’s it going? How’re you holding up? Is it time to get into a fight about it?
4 - Wasn’t it just a story-book over which I had fallen a-doze and a-dream?
Uh-oh! Someone’s dead! That’s not ideal! Are you investigating it? Are you the one who did it? Is this your first time seeing- I mean it’s probably your first time seeing a dead body, but are you just gonna stand there are you gonna step in and handle it?
5 - If your dear heart is wounded, my wild heart bleeds with yours.
And, a trial later… for now, even though you’re a couple students lighter, the group is safe. Time to rest, recuperate, and maybe try to put some kind of gathering together? The only way forward is together, after all - unless, maybe, you’re already making plans for the future.
6 - Last night I dreamt I went to Rosenblum Hall again…
Or make your own fun! The game concept is your oyster.

[and it's probably not great to be alone with a crazed murderer on the loose!
...oh man someone pushed over a fucking shelf. cool. and that seems to be where the blood is leading.]
no subject
[Thank you, captain obvious. But yeesh, this definitely doesn't look good...]
Do you think they're...
[still alive?
Ohhhh, she is not ready to think about that, never mind, let her switch tactics here real quick—]
Uhh. The others. Do you think they're on their way?
no subject
[She sounds pretty doubtful...]
But I think it is likely, yes. It is not a difficult trail to follow.
[Alena heads over to the bookcase and starts to try and lift it up... admittedly she's more about crits than raw strength, but she's still going to try.]
no subject
[That would be nice! Hopefully that's the case! But it probably isn't.
Anyway, Klara watches for a moment but that... seems like a pretty heavy bookcase...]
I'd offer to help but I'm really not very strong. I'd probably just get in your way!
[klara are you gonna do anything useful today, or]
no subject
[with a "hup," she lifts properly with her knees and reveals... well, a bunch of books, but there's definitely a person buried under them. Once Alena has steadied the bookcase, she grimly begins clearing the books off the person, and, well... there's definitely a lot of blood on those! As the figure underneath becomes clearer, it seems that between the bookshelf and the floor, the unfortunate victim has become a Jill Sandwich.
Wait, no, that's not Jill Valentine...
Cynthia Ylisse is dead.]
no subject
Ohhhhh no. That... doesn't look good.
[Cynthia is definitely not still alive, but uh...]
G-Gimme a sec, lemme just...
[She rushes towards the door and raises her voice really loudly:] HEY! We need help in here!
[The others will be in shortly, but for now it's just us and one poor deceased girl who did not deserve this.]
no subject
...Yes. That is... good. Good idea to do.
[She sounds a little distant, because oh no... oh no, her fellow idiot... oh no...]
no subject
Anyway, now that that's taken care of and the others are coming in and we're all properly horrified by all of this... Well, there's an announcement about the whole "finding a body" and "investigating for clues" thing and Klara's staring up at the ceiling in disbelief.]
She was serious about that? Oh man...
[She was really hoping those rules were just to freak us out, but... How are you holding up, Alena?]
no subject
[you know what she's not going to try and think about it too hard. there's. stuff. to do...?
...]
I cannot be detective. I am not Sherlock Holmes. I only know tent joke.
no subject
Tent joke... right... Well, it doesn't hurt to look for anything that seems weird elsewhere, right? Right. I think we can do that, even if we're not Sherlock Holmes!
[And it'll get them away from poor Cynthia's body. Win/win??]
no subject
[she doesn't. know what to do about corpse???]
I think there would be weapon, probably? We should try and find weapon.
no subject
[It's like a scavenger hunt! She can do this. She's got this. Just don't think about the fact that we're looking for a bloody weapon and it'll be fine—
Anyway, off we go! Klara has no real idea where to start looking, but she marches out of the library like she totally knows where she's going. Follow?]
no subject
[THERE'S A LOT OF IT... time to figure out where it all leads, she guesses...]
no subject
Of course, let's see where this leads...
[Off we go! So where's our blood trail going? The kitchen?]
no subject
...uff. I see this is probably scene of fight, probably?
no subject
It looks like it...
[Hmm. Klara carefully picks her way around the blood to get a better look at the counters. She definitely saw a block of knives here earlier, maybe one of them is missing or something...?]
Let's look around and see if there's anything that stands out here. Well, besides the... you know...
[She gestures vaguely at the blood.]
no subject
[hm. hm hm hm... maybe there's a knife in the sink? no, that would be too easy...]
no subject
Yeah, definitely. Looks like some knives are missing? So we're probably looking for those.
[Makes sense, what with the blood and all. While Alena checks out the sink, Klara's going to check the floor, maybe a knife got kicked underneath a cabinet or something??]
no subject
[...
actually, now that she's looking at one of the walls
yeah there's a knife stuck in it.]
...Oh, they did throw knife. At least one. Maybe.
no subject
[She's turned up nothing down here, so Klara goes over to examine that...]
Oh wow, it's really stuck in there. There's no way I'm getting it out.
[She is also a noodle so like, go figure.]
no subject
[and she pulls it out with not all that much effort... hm! there's actually not blood on this one.]
Hm. Perhaps it missed?
no subject
Hm! That seems pretty likely. It seems like there was a fight in here, after all...
[Though who would just start winging knives at someone?? Damn.]
Let's see what else we can find.
[No other knives in the wall, it seems...]
no subject
[Hm... she looks in the cupboards anyway...]
Who knows where majority of stabbing happened. Maybe here? Maybe somewhere else.
no subject
[Hmm! Klara goes through the drawers without finding anything of note, then looks back toward the blood trail.]
Maybe we should see if we can figure out where that happened?
no subject
[Even though this is out of her wheelhouse...]
We do know there was fight here, and there is plenty of blood. So maybe it did start here.
